The Frontier Trail

The Frontier Trail

Low fares. Lower expectations.

A pixel-art travel survival game about getting from booking to baggage claim with enough cash, sanity, and dignity left to call it a trip.

Windows and macOS · $4.99 · Single player, offline

Painted cover art. A covered wagon with wings and two jet engines flies over purple mountains at sunset, its goggled driver leaning out the front.

Your ticket was cheap. The journey has other plans.

Three meters track the damage. Arrive with enough of each left to call it a trip.

The game

From booking to baggage claim

Choose how to handle each encounter, weigh the costs, and try to reach your destination before your reason for traveling has already started.

Every choice has a receipt

Pay for the sandwich. Eat the snack you packed. Take your chances with the vending machine. Decisions change your resources, your belongings, and the time left to make your mission.

Save money now and you may pay for it later in something else.

Pack for the unexpected fees

Choose from six travelers with different strengths, weaknesses, and starting supplies. Buy what you need, work within your bag space, and navigate booking, packing, the airport, boarding, and the flight itself.

A connecting flight adds another opportunity for everything to go wrong.

Meet your fellow passengers

Face absurd encounters and special challenges, including a passenger who has decided your armrest is a footrest.

The airline remains optimistic. Your status meters may disagree.

Try another trip

Pick a Quick Trip, Standard Trip, or Connecting Flight. Repeat a journey using its seed and try different decisions.

Revisit your receipts, endings, and questionable choices in the Travel Journal.
